From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot including angels, demons, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as important members in the influential clan could help the team access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of the traitor.
