Two Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later released.

Police arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
